our story

Lucy's, a modern American eatery, opened its doors in Auburn, Alabama, in June 2018. Born from Lisa Van der Reijden's vision to add a fresh voice to the local culinary scene, the restaurant began as a partnership with Austin Singleton and is now fully owned and operated by Lisa, with Executive Chef Brian Paolina leading the kitchen alongside a dedicated team passionate about providing intentional, gracious hospitality.

Our ever-evolving menu highlights shared plates featuring fresh seafood, locally farmed produce, and high-quality meats, sourced through celebrated partnerships with nearby farms and vendors.

Light, airy, and California-inspired, with a slight nod to a Parisian bistro—Lucy’s creates a welcoming, contemporary vibe that feels like home, complete with warm, caring service and an award-winning beverage program of craft cocktails and a standout wine list curated by Master Sommelier Emmanuel Kemiji.

Lucy’s is named for the childhood nickname Lisa's late father, Harry, gave her—a heartfelt tribute that echoes our commitment to fostering deep and meaningful connections with our guests and community in the heart of Auburn.

A company’s core values serve as the foundation for its identity, culture, and decision-making. They’re more than just words on a wall—they’re meant to guide how people behave, interact, and make choices at every level of the organization.

Define the Company Culture

Core values shape the environment you create for your team. They influence how people treat each other, how leaders lead, and how the company feels from the inside out.

guide decision-making

When faced with tough decisions, core values act as a compass. They help align choices with what the company believes in—even when the right path isn’t the easiest or most profitable.

attract and align talent

People want to work for companies whose values match their own. Clear core values help attract the right people and ensure that everyone is rowing in the same direction once they’re on board.

shape the guest experience

Employees who live the company’s values create more consistent, meaningful guest experiences—especially in hospitality, where care, empathy, and excellence shape every visit.

build trust & accountability

When everyone understands what the company stands for, it’s easier to hold each other accountable. It builds internal trust—and trust from customers—because people know what to expect.

support long-term vision

Core values aren’t trends—they’re enduring principles that support your company’s mission and vision over time, even as strategies or markets evolve.
